Deepavali Celebration

The festival of lights, Deepavali, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at Don Bosco School, Trasi on 18th October 2025. The School Auditorium was beautifully decorated with colorful rangolis, flowers, earthen lamps (diyas) and strings of lights, creating a festive and vibrant atmosphere. The event was marked by a series of engaging activities that highlighted the cultural richness of this festival.

The celebration commenced with the arrival of esteemed dignitaries, Rev. Fr. Maxim D’Souza, the Rector and Principal, Rev. Fr. Bryce Rodrigues, the Vice Principal and Rev. Fr. Arnold Mathias, the Administrator of the school. They were warmly greeted by the students with earthen lamps.

The celebration began with a solemn prayer service, invoking blessings for peace, prosperity, and happiness for all. Students and teachers gathered in unity as prayer song was sung, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.

The lighting of the lamp is a significant ritual during Deepavali, symbolizing the end of darkness with the arrival of light. The dignitaries took part in this sacred ceremony. The warm welcome address was followed by a video on the significance and various reasons behind the celebration of the festival.

The highlight of the celebration was the cultural program, showcasing the diverse talents of the students. Various performances included traditional dances, and video presentations that depicted the history of Deepavali. The students' enthusiasm and creativity captivated the audience, making it a memorable segment of the event.

The Principal, Rev. Fr. Maxim D’Souza, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message. He stated, “When we celebrate any festival we should understand the true meaning behind it. And, the festival of lights indicates the victory of good over evil.” He narrated a meaningful story of a small lamp which was responsible for creating a big light that guided many fishermen on the sea, to reach the shore safely in the darkest of nights. “Each one of us carry a light within us, just like the small lamp, which shines brightly when we understand the true essence and spirit of life and spread positivity around us,” he added. His words encouraged students to embrace the spirit of the festival and to spread joy and kindness in their communities. He wished everyone a happy, safe and eco-friendly feast.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks. The celebration ended on a patriotic note, with the National Anthem.
