Capacity Building Programme on Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among Students

Trasi, 29 May 2026: The second day of the Capacity Building Programme (CBP) at Don Bosco School, Trasi, focused on the theme “Promoting Mental Health and Wellness among Students.” The programme aimed to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to foster students’ emotional well-being and create a supportive and nurturing learning environment.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by an introductory address by Rev. Fr. Sandesh Fernandes, Vice Rector and Vice Principal of Don Bosco School, Trasi, who highlighted the growing importance of mental health awareness in educational institutions and emphasized the vital role of teachers in nurturing the holistic development of students.

The resource persons for the day, Mrs. Mallika Harish and Mrs. Manjusha K. R., conducted a series of insightful and interactive sessions. They underscored the significance of mental health in the overall growth and development of students and shared practical strategies for promoting emotional well-being within the school environment.

The sessions incorporated a variety of engaging activities, including warm-up exercises, action songs, group discussions, and interactive learning experiences. These activities encouraged active participation and provided teachers with effective approaches to fostering positive classroom relationships, enhancing student engagement, and supporting students’ mental and emotional health.

The training programme enabled educators to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by students in today’s rapidly changing world. It reinforced the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning atmosphere where every student feels valued, understood, and encouraged to thrive. Around 60 participants from various schools attended the programme and actively engaged in the sessions.

The programme was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Maxim D’Souza, Rector and Principal, and Rev. Fr. Sandesh Fernandes, Vice Rector and Vice Principal, whose support and encouragement contributed significantly to the success of the event.

The programme was efficiently compered by Mrs. Sheetal Olivera. The welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Anitha Devadiga, while Mrs. Anjana C. introduced the resource persons. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Usha N. C.

The training programme concluded successfully, receiving highly positive feedback from the participants. It proved to be a meaningful and enriching learning experience, empowering teachers with practical strategies to support students’ mental well-being and strengthen their overall development. The sessions inspired educators to adopt more compassionate, inclusive, and student-centred approaches, thereby fostering healthier and more positive learning environments within their classrooms.
