Trasi, October 29, 2026: Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Trasi, successfully hosted the Udupi District Football Tournament for ICSE and CBSE schools affiliated with the Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools (AICS) on October 23, 28 and 29, 2026. The tournament featured competitions in the Under-14 Boys and Girls, Under-17 Boys and Girls, and Under-19 Boys categories, bringing together young footballers from schools across Udupi district.

Originally scheduled for October 23 and 24, the tournament was disrupted after the first day’s matches due to heavy cyclonic rain. The remaining fixtures were rescheduled to October 28 and 29 and were conducted successfully.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Andrew Gonsalves, referee of the Goa Football Association, as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Clive Mascarenhas, Secretary of the Udupi District Football Association, as the Guest of Honour. The valedictory ceremonies held on October 28 and 29 were graced by Mr. Mark Anthony D’Costa, a national-level sprinter, and Mr. Bala Krishna Byndoor, a national-level athlete, respectively.

The adjudication team was headed by Chief Referee Mr. Andrew Gonsalves from Goa, with Mr. Aneesh Sheikh from Mangalore and Mr. Muthuraj from Udupi as referees. They were assisted by Mr. Calvin D’Souza, Mr. Aaron Gonasalves, Mr. Joel Miranda, Mr. Movin Machado, and Mr. Aaron Fernandes from Sirsi as assistant referees.

Appreciating the arrangements, Mr. Sunil, Physical Education Teacher from Udupi, remarked, “The tournament was excellently organised. All minute details were taken care of, including the verification of players before each game. The standard maintained here is sometimes not seen even in some national-level tournaments.”

The entire tournament was meticulously planned and executed by the management, staff, and students of Don Bosco School, Trasi. Their coordinated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the competition despite the challenges posed by the inclement weather. The dedication and teamwork of the school community contributed significantly to the success of the event.

Beyond the competition, the tournament provided a valuable platform for young footballers to showcase their sporting talent, develop discipline and teamwork, and foster camaraderie among participating schools. The successful hosting of the event reaffirmed Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Trasi’s commitment to promoting sports and holistic education.
